Every year my friend Helgard puts a few quilts into Quilts at the Creek, an outdoor quilt show held at Black Creek Pioneer Village in Toronto. The pictures do not do these quilts justice. When I say something from nothing it is because each log is 3/8″ wide, essentially what the average quilter would toss in the garbage. A few of my clients happily supply Helgard with their leftover bits. If you do the math there is more fabric in the seam allowance of the quilt than fabric on the front of the quilt top.
These blocks are foundation pieced on muslin. It doesn’t matter that there is a bit of every style of fabric in this quilt, the pieces are very tiny.
Each block is 2 1/4″ square.
Every year Helgard sells a quilt like this in the “Shop Around The Corner”. It is a shop at Quilts at the Creek selling the products made by quilters that have entered a quilt in the show. Just recently I read that it is not too late to enter a quilt into the show, so if you want a great afternoon and free entrance to the show just click on this link you can get all the details and discover all the great things that are happening at the show. I hope to see you there.
