Missing in Action?

I can’t believe it has been a month and a half since I last posted on my poor neglected blog.  I thought about it many times, but life got in the way.  I have had a very busy spring doing trunk shows and workshops almost every week since the end of March.  I will blog more about that later.  With Quilt Canada looming on the horizon I thought I would share these gorgeous quilts.

I have 3  lovely ladies that operate out of fabricspark . They inspire each other and often their quilts come in groups of 3, each slightly different from the other. Daryl from  Fabricspark will have a kit for this quilt available in her booth at Quilt Canada.

Ludgera was the first to arrive with her quilt. It has a light grey background from the freespirit line of fabric.  Just for Ludgera, who loves the eternal loop I drafted a pantograph that fits into the  4″ grid of half square triangles. Many modern quilters do this freehand, but I am a little more rigid and like my quilting to be as perfect as I can get it without a computerized machine. I think her quilt is off to Germany as a gift to a lucky girl.

Jan was next, with a white background.  My pics do not show but her quilt was just a little more vibrant.  This time I adjusted the pantograph and nested  the  loops a half inch tighter. Here is a closer shot.  The fabric for the star is from the Tula Pink line of dots and stripes.

Just this past week Daryl brought her quilt which will be the sample hanging in her booth. She also used a light grey background.  I am sure this will be a hot seller at the show.

Here is a close-up of all the dots and stripes.

If you are at Quilt Canada and see Daryl, please say “Hi” from me.  I won’t be attending as I am preparing to take the summer off, (more about that later). It is always fun to see what these three have been up to.   Cheers Sandy

  1. These are wonderful quilts, and your quilting just makes them that much better. My sister was a postal worker, and used to pick up Daryl and Sylvia’s outgoing packages. Apparently she was also friends with one of Daryl’s sisters. One year they gave me a gift certificate for their shop, so I “had” to go over there. It’s a wonderful shop, and they’re lovely people! 🙂

  2. Hi Sandy Love your latest blog. Oh no please tell me you are not taking the whole summer off??!! I have a quilt that is near completion for a friend who asked me to make a quilt using her husband’s shirts. He died suddenly in an accident two years ago. Let me know if you will be able to work on it. It’s lap size and would need something simple I think
