In early December I received a quilt that has become a star on Instagram. This quilt is a collabrative effort between Berene of Happy Sew Lucky and Daryl of Fabric Spark. Berene is a quilt designer and Daryl is part of a modern quilt shop in Toronto’s Danforth area. If you go to Berene’s blog or her Instrgram page you can read about the quilt and her reason to make this bold statement in fabric.
The fabric used in this quilt was designed by Tula Pink and is soon to be released by FreeSpirit Fabrics. You can order the kit for the quilt thru Fabric spark.
Most quilters would think lines are very simple to quilt, they are simple but only if the quilt is perfectly square and straight. Berene is a master of perfection and designed the pattern to ensure that everything remains perfect. The letters and the ribbons are paper pieced. After the lines were complete it was time to do some swirls and pebbles around the letters.
Doing the background till the tears ran down my face.
Don’t you just love it? Especially the graduation of the letters!
I love working with these women, and feel honoured to be trusted to help bring their quilt to completion. Please go to Happy Sew Lucky’s Instagram page and read about the quilt.
