Quilters Pot Luck

The other day I went to pot-luck lunch with a group of quilters that started meeting weekly at the former Cock-a Doodle Quilt Shop. They continue stitching together to this day.  After a delicious lunch we had a little show and tell.  Elizabeth showed this large scrappy quilt that she made for her son and daughter in law.  Usually when I see a scrap quilt I look for fabrics that I also have in my stash.  I don’t know why! Weird as it seems I am comforted by the fact that some people have kept their old stash as long as me.   I didn’t find many that I own on this quilt.  It is a great scrap quilt, my pic does not do it justice.

Kathy also brought a load of quilts that I long armed for her this past summer.  I cannot believe how many of my people gift their quilts.  If I have said it once, I will say it again “quilters are generous people”.

Although I do not have a full picture of this stunning two colour quilt, Kathy got the idea for it from another member of the group.  It is a very easy quilt all half square triangles and squares.

A beautiful quilt made from the farmer’s daughter block, all stash.

The amazing thing is Kathy rarely keeps a quilt for herself!  The one below was made after meeting Kathy Doughty at Quilts at the Creek.  Kathy is keeping this one for herself. I am sure it will bring some sunshine into her living room this coming winter.

This last quilt was made by another Kathy in the group.  Although she did not show this at the pot luck  I thought I would include it as I hadn’t blogged about it yet.  It is a great feeling to finish projects started long ago.  Love the french country blue and yellow.

The quilts I receive from this group of women are always well made.  I think all those years together really influenced their strive for perfection.  I am thankful that they support me and include me in their social events.
