Earlier this fall Rouge Valley Quilt Guild invited me to teach Grandma’s Stars. It is a beautiful quilt made on a flannel foundation. The flannel foundation becomes the batting making a heavy quilt that is very drapable. Flannel foundation quilts make the best couch cuddle quilts.
Everyone came well prepared to buckle down and sew. The workshop participants really embraced the opportunity to use their stash. Some went completely scrappy, some controlled the color, a few used their 30’s stash.
I had a few “why didn’t I think of that moments”. Christmas prints or one colour family.
Here we are at the end of the day proud of our accomplishments and a new skill.
Just a few weeks ago I received an email from Elaine, she sent a picture of her finished quilt, completed with big stitch quilting. Elaine wrote that she preferred organized scrappy. What a great job! I love the odd splash of a different colour in blocks that are predominately one colour.
I can’t tell you how proud I am when I see a finished quilt resulting from a workshop with me. Thanks for sharing Elaine.
I like the Christmasy one… probably because I just decorated my tree and am in the mood for Red and Green!
