If you have been following my blog regularly you might remember that I held a draw to give out some prizes at Christmas. So far two of my peeps have collected their winnings. Val won the batting for this great quilt. You can read about the making of this quilt on her blog. My studio always brightens up when I have a quilt from Val, she is not scared to mix her colours. I love the sense of movement created by the wavy quilting lines we chose.
Bev also collected on her prize winnings to finish up a UFO in time for the UFO challenge being held by York Heritage Quilt Guild this coming May. It is a project started years ago in a workshop given by Carol Doak when she was a speaker for our guild. This quilt was paper foundation pieced allowing Bev to get those really sharp points.
We treated the outer border as one and quilted some giant whimsical feathers that I learned to quilt from Bethanne Nemmish. The rest of the quilt was quilted in a combination of freehand and ruler work.
Everyone got excited when I held the draw, I will have to start thinking about another one soon.
